Francis Puleiwai has resigned from her position as Acting Deputy Commissioner for the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), following a meeting with the Judicial Services Commission. Her resignation is effective immediately, as she expressed her inability to continue working for FICAC in the current circumstances. Puleiwai, who was appointed to her role in December of the previous year, made her decision after taking action against newly appointed FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali, who was questioned regarding allegations of abuse of office. Malimali was released after questioning yesterday, with legal representation present, but declined to comment when approached by the media.
