An 80-year-old man tragically lost his life in a vehicle collision in Wainadoi, Navua. The accident happened when two drivers tried to overtake simultaneously, leading their vehicles to veer off the road and end up in a ditch.

The man, who resided in Suva, was taken to Navua Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Fortunately, the other driver involved is reported to be in stable condition.

On a broader note, the national road death toll has reached 48 for the year, a notable decrease from 78 during the same period last year, highlighting efforts to improve road safety.

This unfortunate incident underscores the importance of safe driving practices, especially with overtaking maneuvers. It serves as a reminder for all drivers to prioritize safety on the roads to prevent further tragedies.
