Community Calls to Action: Parents Urged to Boost Student Success

Community Call to Action: Boosting Academic Success Together!

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has urged parents and the wider community to actively participate in boosting children’s academic performance. Speaking at the induction ceremony for prefects at Vatukaloko Secondary and Draunivi Public schools, Radrodro stressed the importance of collective responsibility in fostering educational success, not just from teachers but also from local leaders and churches.

He pointed out that many parents underestimate their influence on their children’s education, often placing the burden solely on teachers. Radrodro encouraged parents to dedicate time to their children’s studies, assist with homework, and keep track of their academic progress. “Your support at home makes a huge difference in their learning journey,” he emphasized, calling for a united effort to enhance educational outcomes.

In connection with the government’s initiative to improve education, Radrodro inaugurated a new $49,000 building at Vatukaloko Secondary School, intended to upgrade learning conditions for students and teachers alike.

He also recognized the newly elected prefects, advising them to approach their leadership responsibilities with integrity and to act as positive role models for their fellow students.

Radrodro’s appeal for closer cooperation between parents, educators, and the community reflects ongoing concerns about declining academic performance among students in Fiji. His call to action carries optimism that increased parental involvement could significantly influence the educational climate, leading to improved outcomes for students.

The collaboration among educational stakeholders offers the potential for meaningful advancements in Fiji’s schools, nurturing not only academic excellence but also personal development, supported by a committed community. This unified approach could herald a brighter future for every child in the region.
