The Ministry of Health has confirmed that all seven individuals who experienced illness after consuming a cocktail at the Warick Resort have been moved to the Lautoka Hospital. The group includes four Australians, one American, and two foreign residents of Fiji.
The Ministry reported that the seven individuals were initially taken to Sigatoka Hospital last night due to symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and neurological issues linked to the cocktail they drank at the resort’s bar. The ages of the patients range from 18 to 56 years, with two individuals requiring transfer to Lautoka Hospital because of the severity of their symptoms.
In light of this incident, Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade issued a travel advisory urging Australians to remain vigilant regarding the potential dangers of drink spiking and methanol poisoning associated with alcoholic beverages.
