Carpenters Fiji Ltd held a heartwarming Christmas celebration for children battling cancer and those from orphanages in Suva, as part of its ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This annual tradition has been a significant event for the company, according to Pawan Sharma, the general manager of Global Business Improvement at Carpenters.

Sharma emphasized the importance of these festivities, stating, “Every year, we commemorate Christmas with orphanages and the Fiji Cancer Society. It is a time for us to celebrate and remember those in our society who are less fortunate.”

The event brought joy to approximately 125 children associated with organizations such as Dilkusha Home, WOWS Kids Fiji, and the Happy Home Trust. Attendees enjoyed a delightful afternoon filled with entertainment, ice cream, sweets, cakes, gifts, and a meal provided by sponsors from the food court.

Local eateries, including Shiva’s Restaurant, Sri Lankan Restaurant, Joji’s, Huang Ji R888, Lunchbox, and DMC, played a crucial role in making the occasion memorable by generously supplying lunch for the participants.

One poignant moment came from Ema Nasome, a mother of three, who expressed her gratitude to Carpenters for organizing the event. Her six-year-old son, Sakiusa Vakalala, who has faced significant health challenges since birth, was part of the WOWS Kids group. “This is the first time for us to attend, and it really makes a big difference in their lives,” she shared, highlighting the event’s impact on families like hers.

This initiative by Carpenters Fiji Ltd underscores the power of community support and compassion, especially during the festive season, reminding us of the importance of giving back to those in need.

In summary, the event not only brought joy to children facing difficult circumstances but also fostered a sense of community and hope, showcasing the positive impact of corporate involvement in social causes.
