Jonathan Hill is optimistic about extending his winning streak when he takes on Labasa’s Rupeni Rokoratu in his second professional bout as part of the South Pacific boxing promotion next month.

“Preparation has been good, and we’re always prepped, Winston (his younger brother) and I,” Hill said. “My approach in this fight is to knock out Rokoratu so I can get my ranking higher.”

Hill is eyeing a title fight, contingent on a victory over Rokoratu. “This is the first time for me to fight him (Rokoratu), and it’s almost like amateur boxing where we just go in and deal with it in the ring,” he stated. “My motivation to win the fight will be my son.”

Hill has opted not to study his opponent, choosing instead to focus on honing his own abilities and strength. “It’s been good to have my younger brother Winston in my preparation, and I guess it makes my opponent wary of me,” he said. “It’ll also be my first time fighting in Labasa.”

Hill secured his first professional victory in the super middleweight division against Donasio Macedru during the Lewis Hill boxing promotions at Vodafone Arena, Suva, last year. “I’m trying to improve my fitness in my preparation with the aim to win,” he said. “I was unfit in my last fight, but I got the job done.”

He noted that he has gained valuable experience from his previous professional bout. “I will be gunning for the super middleweight title of Fiji after this fight and maybe the light heavyweight as well,” Hill said. “We’ll see whoever’s got the title, I’ll be going after them.”
