Nadi’s Blues FC made a strong comeback in the National Club Championship (NCC) held in Suva, following a tough opening loss. The team delivered an impressive performance, dominating Fiends United FC with a 4-0 victory at the Fiji FA Academy grounds in Vatuwaqa.
Interim coach Gurdeep Singh expressed his delight in the team’s resilience, stating, “The boys are happy. The morale is high.” He noted that the previous day’s defeat had served as a wake-up call for the players, who regrouped and focused on their mistakes. This marked a significant turnaround for the team, emphasizing their determination to improve.
Despite facing challenges such as fatigue from their journey from Nadi to Suva and ongoing fitness issues, Singh highlighted the team’s commitment to overcome obstacles. “Fitness is still a concern, but we’ll work on it,” he said.
With the stakes high in the championship, Singh stressed the importance of learning from past errors, especially in converting scoring opportunities and maintaining discipline on the field. He remains upbeat about the team’s chances, praising the talent of the players, which includes representatives from various districts. “We have a good set of boys… We’re determined to make this trip worthwhile and bring home the win,” he added.
In addition to Blues FC’s match, other results from the tournament included Northpole FC’s victory over Flying Arrows FC (2-0), Buiduna FC’s narrow win against Rivals FC (1-0), and Downtown FC’s triumph over Nakasi Police FC (2-1).
This victory could be a turning point for Blues FC, rejuvenating their spirits and setting the stage for potential success in the championship. Their willingness to learn from mistakes and work on their fitness demonstrates a promising outlook for upcoming matches. With continued determination and hard work, there is hope that Blues FC can advance further and ultimately contend for the title.
