Mfundo Ndlovu, the speedy Blitzbok 7s player, is set to rejoin the team for the Cape Town 7s as South Africa aims to secure a gold medal on home soil. Ndlovu, who has already claimed two gold medals at the HSBC SVNS Series and the Commonwealth Games, has been brought back into the squad following the losses of teammates Ryan Oosthuizen and Christie Grobbelaar during the recent Dubai 7s.
In addition to Ndlovu’s return, Zander Reynders is also making a comeback and is in line for his potential debut in the tournament this weekend.
The South African team will kick off their campaign against Ireland on Saturday at 9:44 PM, before facing off against the current Cape Town 7s champions, Argentina, at 4:41 AM on Sunday.
This reflects a strong determination from the South African squad, bolstered by returning talent, as they strive to triumph in front of their home crowd. The anticipation surrounding their matches encourages a sense of community and pride, promising an exciting weekend for rugby fans.
