Assemblies of God High School’s under-19 rugby league team achieved a remarkable 32-6 victory against Saint Vincent College, showcasing the talent of a predominantly youthful squad comprised mainly of players aged 16 and 17. This impressive performance highlighted their skillful teamwork and strong determination on the field.
Technical manager Taitusi Saudole expressed his satisfaction with the players’ commitment and shared the developmental focus of the team. “We are very happy with the boys’ effort and teamwork today (Saturday),” Saudole remarked. Despite their young age, the players demonstrated significant determination and zeal during the match.
As the team prepares for the 2026 Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League competition, Saudole identified several key areas for improvement. “We need to focus on strengthening and conditioning since most players are still young,” he noted, underscoring the necessity for enhancing technical skills such as breakdowns, scrums, and quicker response times during penalties.
Aiming to build on their previous season, where they reached the elimination round, Assemblies of God High School is set on progressing further this year. “Our goal this year is to progress beyond elimination and make a deeper run in the competition,” Saudole added.
With several teams participating this season, Assemblies of God High School is firmly laying the foundation for sustained success in the school’s rugby league competition, and their recent win over Saint Vincent College marks a hopeful beginning for their campaign.
