A slow-moving trough west of Fiji, gradually drifting south, combined with a moist easterly flow, will keep much of the group under cloud and showers through tomorrow. Expect periods of rain and the chance of afternoon or evening thunderstorms, some of which may produce isolated heavy falls.
Cloudy periods with showers are most likely over the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri, Ra‑Rakiraki, southern parts of Bua and Cakaudrove provinces, Taveuni, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Elsewhere conditions will be partly cloudy with the usual afternoon or evening showers. Localised heavy falls are possible in thunderstorm activity and may lead to flash flooding of low‑lying and flood‑prone areas.
Winds will be mainly moderate from the east to southeast, fresh at times, with a similar pattern expected into Sunday when winds may be gusty at times. Seas are forecast to be moderate to rough around the islands for the next 24–48 hours, so conditions offshore will be choppy.
For urban and coastal centres, cloudy periods with showers and afternoon or evening thunderstorms are expected. Navua/Suva/Nausori: tomorrow’s temperatures around Min 23, Max 31 with isolated heavy falls possible; Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Min 23, Max 32 with afternoon or evening thunderstorms possible; Labasa: tomorrow Min 21, Max 32, with a generally unsettled spell that eases only slightly on Sunday. Many other districts, including Sigatoka/Coral Coast, Yasawa/Mamanuca, Tavua/Rakiraki, Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Taveuni, can expect similar afternoon or evening shower and thunderstorm activity and the risk of isolated heavy rainfall.
Rotuma remains under a moist easterly flow with a trough nearby. Expect cloudy periods with brief showers and isolated thunderstorms, moderate easterly winds and moderate seas. The outlook into Sunday is for occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms with little change in temperatures.
