Authorities are currently examining two distinct suspected drowning incidents that occurred on Tuesday, March 4, 2026.

The first incident resulted in the discovery of a primary school student’s body in the Kaleli River in Lautoka at approximately 10 am. The child’s lifeless form was found floating in the river, prompting an immediate response from local officials.

In the second case, a man in his 60s, who had gone fishing in the waters off Tubou in Lakeba, was later located unresponsive at sea.

Investigations are actively underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding both tragic events. Postmortem examinations are expected to be conducted as part of the ongoing inquiries to provide clarity and understanding of these incidents.
