A new partnership has formed between the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) and Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH), aiming to significantly enhance medical services for Fijians, particularly those in remote areas. This collaboration was announced during a visit by GCC Chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula to PSH’s 130-bed private hospital in Nadi, where he praised the hospital’s advanced technology and highly trained specialists.
Seruvakula underscored the hospital’s strategic location near Nadi International Airport, indicating that it could attract international dignitaries seeking reputable medical care, thereby enhancing Fiji’s image as a healthcare destination. This initiative aims not only to improve access to healthcare but also to promote increased health awareness within the iTaukei community. The partnership emphasizes the importance of early detection of chronic illnesses through telemedicine, allowing patients in remote regions to consult with specialists without the need for long-distance travel.
PSH Chief Executive Parvish Kumar expressed enthusiasm about working alongside the GCC to deliver affordable and high-quality healthcare. The collaboration promises active representation of the iTaukei community in decision-making processes, ensuring that their needs are prioritized.
This alliance could mark a significant advancement in Fiji’s healthcare landscape, foster health education, and potentially boost economic benefits through improved medical tourism. The focus on enhanced healthcare access not only aims to improve individual health outcomes but also supports broader efforts to establish Fiji as a sought-after destination for health tourism.
The partnership reflects a hopeful trend towards making quality medical services more accessible and promoting a healthier future for the nation, aligning with governmental objectives to strengthen the healthcare sector and improve overall health outcomes for all Fijians.
