A tragic incident occurred yesterday afternoon at the Wainibuka River, where a three-year-old boy from Burelevu Village in Saivou, Ra is believed to have drowned. According to police reports, the child slipped out of his home unnoticed and ventured to swim in the river.

Realizing he was missing, family members quickly raised the alarm, which led to villagers organizing a search party to look for the child. Sadly, the boy’s body was ultimately found along the riverbank and was taken to Wainimaro Hospital by his relatives.

Authorities are currently conducting investigations to understand the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event. Such incidents highlight the need for increased vigilance around water bodies, especially during warmer weather when children are more inclined to explore.
