Weather Update

Good morning, Fiji! Buckle up your hats and hold onto your umbrellas because we have quite the weather rollercoaster ahead!

We’ve got a STRONG WIND WARNING still blowing through the coastal areas of southeastern Viti Levu (that’s from Sigatoka all the way to Suva and up to Rakiraki). So, if you spot your neighbor’s deck chair making a break for it, don’t be alarmed—it’s just the wind giving it a free ride! This wind is not being shy today, hitting speeds of up to 45 km/hr with gusts that could knock your socks off at 60 km/hr. Luckily, that will ease up later today—so watch where you’re walking!

For our island home—Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, Yasawa, and southern parts of Vanua Levu (especially Southern Bua and Cakaudrove)—the winds will be fluttering about with the same gusto. A mix of cloudy moments with sporadic showers means you might want to carry a mini umbrella for those surprise drizzles. And don’t forget that cool breeze the evening brings… perfect for cozying up with a cup of hot cocoa (or kava, if that’s your jam).

Elsewhere in Fiji, expect mainly fine weather. That sounds like a good excuse for a picnic, right? Just make sure to pack a light jacket for the chilly nighttime vibes!

Here’s your regional rundown:

– Navua / Suva / Nausori: Get ready for southeast winds up to 45 km/hr (and those gusts again). Showers might crash the party, but they won’t last long.

– Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Staying mainly fine! It almost sounds boring, but hey, cool nights are always a win.

– Coral Coast/Sigatoka: Take your strong winds, add a sprinkle of showers, and you’ve got a recipe for a blustery day.

– Tavua/Rakiraki: A mix over Rakiraki with those cheeky winds—cloudy spells ahead!

– Yasawa/Mamanuca: Again, those winds are back to give you a hearty shake, accompanied by some showers.

– Labasa: Fine as can be—no drama here!

– Savusavu: Winds and showers—classic combo here too!

– Lau and Lomaiviti: Yes, you guessed it, gusty winds and some showers float your way.

– Kadavu: Same story, different island—cloudy with some unexpected shower guests.

– Rotuma: The strong winds have been shown the door, leaving you with just some moderate breezes and brief showers.

Outlook for Friday is still in the cards, and there will be plenty of cloudy periods with those cheeky brief showers ready to crash into your plans. Grab your raincoat and enjoy those cool nights!

Stay safe and maybe skip the beach today unless you’re a kite surfing aficionado!
