FWCC engages in talks with Fiji Police Force Reset Advisory Team

Strengthening Support: FWCC and Fiji Police Forge New Path for Women’s Safety

The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre (FWCC) engaged in meaningful discussions with Mike Bush, the head of the Fiji Police Force Reset Advisory Team, and Deb Francis from Bush International Consulting. The meeting included FWCC Coordinator Shamima Ali and Miliana Tarai, focusing on enhancing police responses to violence against women and girls in Fiji.

Central to the discussions were the improvement of best practices, the establishment of gender-sensitive policing approaches, and the promotion of human rights within law enforcement. This collaborative initiative showcases the FWCC’s unwavering commitment to work with the Fiji Police Force, aiming to enhance services and procedures that protect women and vulnerable communities.

Such cooperative efforts highlight a positive trend towards ensuring safety and security for all, particularly marginalized groups. By fostering dialogue between community organizations and law enforcement, there is hope for a more informed and empathetic approach to policing that prioritizes the needs of those affected by violence.
