Weather Warning Alert

Greetings, lovely weather enthusiasts! It’s your friendly forecast team swinging by to shake up your Monday with the latest on the weather front. Wake up and smell the rain! Here’s what’s brewing in the Fiji islands as of 5:30 AM on this fine Monday morning, March 3, 2025.

As it turns out, Mother Nature decided to crank up the volume with a STRONG WIND WARNING in play for the southern regions of Vanua Levu, western and southern parts of Viti Levu, and our delightful Yasawa and Mamanuca groups. Oh, and let’s not forget Kadavu and those smaller islands looking to ride the wind’s wild waves along with Lau and Lomaiviti. Hold onto your hats, folks, or you might just find them sweeping off into the sunset!

And if you thought we were done there, back it up—because the HEAVY RAIN WARNING is also holding its ground for the western, northern, and some interior parts of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, and yes, dear Yasawa and Mamanuca groups are getting double-dipped too! Flash flooding might sneak up on those low-lying areas, so if you see puddles forming, just remember—those aren’t swimming pools!

What’s causing all this weather hoopla? An active trough of low pressure is settling in, making itself comfortable with clouds and rain while swaying those northwest winds. They plan on extending their stay until Tuesday, just to ensure everyone gets a chance to join the raindrops in the dance party!

Forecasting drama right up ‘til midnight tonight:
– For our buddies in southern Vanua Levu, western and southern Viti Levu, Kadavu, and the island hopping Yasawa and Mamanuca groups: Expect those strong northwest winds to whip around at 37 to 46 km/hr, with gusts ramping it up to a feisty 55 km/hr. Rough seas ahead, so leave your floaties on the beach!
– Over here, the rest of Fiji gets a mix: moderate to fresh northwest winds and some mild seas.
– For the Greater Nadi Area and friends: Grab your rain boots! Occasional to heavy rain is gearing up with thrills of isolated thunderstorms. We’re talking a splash zone, folks!

Moving on to Tuesday, it appears we’ll kick off with a stylish blend of rain and the occasional thunder clap over Vanua Levu and nearby islands. So while you’re sipping your favorite cuppa, don’t forget your umbrella—it’s going to be a wet one!

And just as a reminder, here’s a little run-through of notable areas:

– For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Occasional rain with delightful thunderstorms making cameo appearances.
– For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Hold onto your hats! Strong winds, heavy rain, and thunderous applause expected.
– For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Brace yourself for those breezy delights and regular rain showers.
– For Yasawa/Mamanuca: Winds howling and rain shower parties on the horizon!
– For Kadavu and Labasa: Let’s not skimp on the rain and thunder perks.

Last but not least, dear Rotuma is putting on a show with brief showers and moderate northerly winds. The seas are moderate to rough, so always respect the ocean ladies and gentlemen!

Stay dry (or not, depending on your rain dance ambitions), and keep it playful with those umbrellas! Cheers to a thrilling week ahead!
