Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! A classic low-pressure system slowly waltzes across the northeastern part of our beautiful archipelago, heading south with all the grace of a sloth. As this sky curtain rises, be prepared for a grand performance of clouds, sporadic showers, and the occasional thunderous drumroll! Expect this show to continue until late tomorrow, so stay tuned.
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Prepare for a mix of rain that might just be heavy enough to drown a coconut or two, especially over the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, the Northern Division, and our lovely islands of Lau and Lomaiviti, not to mention Kadavu and its nearby mini-islands. The eastern half of Viti Levu—think Serua, Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, and Ra—will also join the rain parade. But fear not, the rain will start cooling its jets from the north tomorrow. Outside of that wet excitement, we’ll enjoy partly cloudy skies, with afternoon showers crashing the party before evening heavyweight bouts of rain overnight. Just a heads-up: localized deluges could turn low-lying areas into temporary swimming pools. And yep, we’ll have moderate to fresh southeast to northeast winds along with some moderate to rough seas to keep your sea legs busy.
Friday’s Forecast: Cloudy skies with some intermittent showers will be the flavor of the day over Serua, Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Kadavu, and adjacent smaller islands, along with Lau, Lomaiviti, southern Bua, and Cakaudrove. Elsewhere, enjoy the fine weather until afternoon or evening when showers and thunderstorms might crash in like uninvited guests on a Friday night. Pro tip: afternoon or evening thunderstorms could also bring heavy rain for that exciting splashy vibe! Expect more localized flooding in hapless low-lying areas. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeast winds and don’t forget those moderate to rough seas!
Here’s the scoop for specific areas:
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Occasional rain is to be expected, sometimes heavy, with a few thunderous claps just for fun.
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: It starts partly cloudy but prepare for some afternoon rain that will turn into a torrential fiesta by evening and overnight. It should finally take a breath tomorrow morning.
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Expect a similar story with afternoon showers that want to party all night and then ease up by morning.
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Occasional rain and the thrill of a few thunderstorms will keep things exciting, but it eases in the morning.
For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Similar to Rakiraki, rain is on the cards, just be patient; it’ll quiet down soon.
For Labasa & Savusavu: Occasional thunderous rain that can get heavy at times will make an appearance and will start to chill out tomorrow.
For Lau/ Lomaiviti, Kadavu: Prepare for heavy rains and thunderstorms that lighten up after a good soak.
For Rotuma: Business as usual with cloudy periods and brief showers, along with moderate to fresh winds—sort of like a gentle sea breeze whispering sweet nothings.
Outlook for Friday across most regions forecasts brief showers, so keep that umbrella close—it’ll be your new best friend!
