Litiana Naqatalevu departed from Beqa Island early yesterday to join the Fiji Bulikula, the national women’s rugby league team, for their morning practice at Albert Park in Suva. Spending $100 on travel was a small price to pay as she finally reunited with her niece, Losana Lutu, after 12 years apart.

“I always knew she would excel in sports,” Naqatalevu expressed, referring to her brother’s daughter. The 20-year-old Lutu has emerged as one of the promising talents in the National Rugby League Women (NRLW) in Australia and is a player to watch in the upcoming match against the Cook Islands at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Saturday.

“We are preparing banners in our village of Naceva in Beqa to support Losana and the team. We will all be at the stadium cheering for them as they face the Cook Islands,” Naqatalevu shared.
