Police Commander Demands Accountability: Will Officers Rise to the Challenge?

The Divisional Police Commander for the Western Division, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, has urged his officers to address complaints effectively by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures.

During his address at the end of the fourth quarter divisional parade for officers stationed from Rakiraki to Sigatoka, SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating each report with equal seriousness and providing appropriate advice when necessary. He stated, “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied.”

Additionally, SSP Vaisewa reinforced the Acting Commissioner of Police’s stance of zero tolerance towards any officers involved in criminal activities. He warned that any officer who exploits their uniform for personal gain through illegal actions will face consequences. He highlighted the public’s expectation for police officers to be more responsive and urged them to either rise to the demands of their role or resign if they find it unmanageable.
