Four clubs from Fiji are among 24 teams eager to join the forthcoming OFC Professional League, set to launch in January 2026. This league is seen as a pivotal development for football across the Pacific, with interest also coming from teams in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Caledonia, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, and Vanuatu.
The application deadline recently passed, showing a robust commitment from clubs wishing to participate in this prestigious eight-team tournament, which will unfold from early January to May 2026. Notably, the application process remains open until the end of June, allowing additional clubs the opportunity to apply.
Stuart Larman, the manager of the OFC Professional League, expressed his enthusiasm for the overwhelming response, highlighting it as evidence of a collective ambition among clubs to uplift professional football in Oceania. He remarked, “A lot of work has gone into structuring a professional league that will accelerate the growth of football across the region, including detailed preparation of the Club Application Process.”
