Surge operations in the Northern Division have resulted in the arrests of several individuals for suspected illegal possession of narcotics.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu, these heightened efforts are supported by additional personnel from specialized units, including the Police Mobile Force, the Fiji Detector Dog Unit, and the Police Dog Unit.
ACP Driu emphasized that disrupting the drug supply chain is a key focus of their operations. This is being accomplished through a combination of farm raids, cleanup initiatives, and targeting drug distributors. He noted that valuable community support and the exchange of information have played a crucial role in the effectiveness of these raids.
During the recent surge operations, authorities detained five men, all aged between 20 and 30. Additionally, items believed to be stolen were confiscated during the operations. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
This proactive approach by law enforcement not only aims to combat drug-related crimes but also fosters a greater community collaboration in promoting safer neighborhoods. The continued community involvement indicates a growing commitment to addressing the drug issue, ultimately leading to a healthier society.
As local authorities intensify their efforts in the war on drugs, the positive impact of these operations may lead to reduced crime and enhanced safety in the region.
