The Labasa football club, known as North-pole, celebrated a big victory and a financial boost of $4,000 after triumphing in the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship (NCCC). They emerged victorious with a score of 6-3 against Buiduna at the Fiji Football Association grounds.

The match was competitive right from the start, with both teams going into halftime even at 2-2. However, North-pole took control in the second half, with standout performances from Melvin Mani, who scored in the 55th minute, and Christopher Wasasala, who netted his second goal shortly after in the 61st minute. Additional goals were contributed by Eparama Moraica and Mo-hammed Arbaz, leading to a decisive win.

While Buiduna did not claim the championship, their journey to the final was historic, marking their first appearance in the NCCC final. They began their campaign with a significant 2-1 victory over Nakasi Police, followed by a closely contested 1-0 win against Lautoka’s Rivals. They secured their final spot with a 1-1 draw against Nadroga’s Downtown and walked away with a prize of $1,000.

This tournament showcased not only the competitive spirit of the teams but also the growth and enthusiasm for football in Fiji, giving promising players a platform to shine.
