Newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, is committed to restoring the trust and confidence of the public in law enforcement. In an exclusive interview, he expressed gratitude for his selection, acknowledging the strong competition he faced from both current and former officers. Tudravu emphasized that the day of his appointment was a significant milestone in his career as a dedicated police officer.

He extended appreciation to Acting Commissioner Juki Fong Chew and the officers who managed operations during the transition, recognizing the challenges faced by both the police force and the community over recent times. His initial focus will be on rebuilding relationships and trust, both with the public and internally among police personnel.

Tudravu is aware that this process will take time, stating that restoring confidence will not happen overnight. However, he assures the Fijian public of his commitment to making substantial improvements within the police service. He is scheduled to officially begin his role as Commissioner of Police on February 3, 2025.

This new leadership marks a hopeful chapter for Fiji’s police force, as the community anticipates positive changes and a renewed partnership between the police and the public. With Rusiate Tudravu at the helm, there is potential for meaningful progress in addressing public concerns and enhancing the overall effectiveness of policing in the region.
