Jone Navakamocea has been appointed as the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, a decision confirmed by the Chair of the Public Service Commission, Luke Rokovada. This appointment was made in agreement with the Prime Minister, indicating a collaborative decision-making process within the government.
Navakamocea, who previously served as the Deputy Secretary Operations of iTaukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He holds a Master of Science in Macro Economics, Policy and Planning in Developing Countries from the University of Bradford, England, and has over 30 years of extensive experience in economic planning and development within the government and public sector.
In related news, Rokovada clarified the status of Pita Tagicakirewa, who has been on medical leave since the end of last month. Following his medical leave, Tagicakirewa will be taking his annual leave, which prompts the need for Navakamocea’s appointment to ensure the smooth functioning of the Ministry during this transitional period.
This leadership change within government departments reflects a commitment to maintaining stable and experienced individuals at the helm of crucial ministries, which is vital for continuous development and effective governance. Navakamocea’s extensive background in economics positions him well to contribute positively to the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, enhancing the focus on the economic empowerment and cultural heritage of the iTaukei community.
Such appointments highlight the government’s focus on qualified leaders who possess both the educational background and practical experience necessary to navigate the complexities of public service and drive impactful policies.
