Young people in Naisilisili Village are now presented with enhanced opportunities to prioritize their health and shape their futures, following the recent handover of new gym equipment and the graduation of participants from a mobile skills training program.
During a recent visit to the village, the Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, took the time to emphasize the importance of the newly provided gym equipment. He encouraged the youth to utilize these facilities to not only develop their physical strength but also foster discipline and resilience, essential qualities for personal development.
Minister Saukuru addressed some pressing challenges facing young individuals today, including the alarming rise in drug use and HIV cases. He urged the young people to remain informed, support one another, and pursue positive paths that will benefit both their personal growth and the overall wellbeing of their community.
The event also celebrated the graduation of participants from the Mobile Skills Training program, a collaboration between the Fiji National University and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This initiative focuses on equipping young people with practical skills that can significantly improve their employment prospects and foster small business opportunities, especially within maritime and remote communities.
Additionally, representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Fiji Police Force, the Ministry of Employment, and the Ministry of Business Development participated in the outreach by conducting awareness sessions. These sessions covered vital topics such as health education, law enforcement, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship, further supporting the youth in their journey towards a successful and fulfilling future.
This initiative represents a positive step towards empowering young individuals in Naisilisili Village, fostering both personal and communal growth.
