Digicel Fiji has recently announced a new enhancement to its MyCash service, allowing users to make payments via MyCash QR at all Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) branches and Container Freight Stations throughout the country. This development promises to simplify the payment process, improving accessibility and efficiency for users across Fiji.
FRCS Chief Executive Udit Singh highlighted that the introduction of MyCash QR payments expands the payment options available to customers, making them more accessible and user-friendly. He emphasized the convenience and security of using MyCash for payments at FRCS locations, a sentiment echoed by Digicel Fiji Chief Executive Farid Mohammed, who described this initiative as a landmark achievement for digital payments in the region.
This enhancement comes as part of a broader trend towards integrating digital financial services in Fiji. Previous reports noted the rising adoption of QR code payments, with transaction numbers surging from 3.4 million in 2022 to 6.3 million in 2023, reflecting a significant shift in the nation’s financial landscape. Additionally, the integration of mobile wallets like MyCash and M-PAiSA into the National Payment System has made it easier for users to manage their finances, allowing direct transfers between bank accounts and mobile wallets.
The increased acceptance and utilization of mobile payment systems signal a hopeful future for financial inclusion in Fiji, as they continue to bridge the gap for individuals without access to traditional banking services. With a growing emphasis on digital solutions, these advancements not only streamline financial transactions but also support the overall economic activity within the nation. The introduction of MyCash QR payments at FRCS is thus a step forward in fostering a more connected and accessible financial ecosystem in Fiji.
