Market Makeover: Sigatoka Vendors Celebrate Upgrades!

In Sigatoka Town, juice vendors have received significant improvements to their selling environment, thanks to newly installed facilities provided by the local town council. Krishna Sharma, president of the Sigatoka Market Vendors Association, shared that the council has equipped vendors with new tables and sinks to enhance their ability to sell pastries, juices, and food items more efficiently.

Sharma explained that these new installations allow vendors to serve customers directly from behind their tables, making the selling process smoother. Alongside these upgrades, the town council is also repainting the interior of the market, aiming to further improve the space for vendors and customers alike.

Etuate Nauro, a local juice seller, expressed gratitude for the new tables equipped with sinks and taps, highlighting the convenience they bring. “We no longer have to walk to the other side of the market for water. It’s great to open the tap and mix our juices right there,” Nauro noted, reflecting overall satisfaction among vendors about these enhancements.

These changes echo developments seen in other local markets, such as the newly constructed Nakasi Market, where vendors celebrated improved facilities and customer interaction conditions. The Nakasi Market has similarly transformed the selling experience by providing shelter from the elements, ensuring that both sellers and customers benefit from a more pleasant shopping environment.

It is hopeful to see local governments prioritizing the needs of market vendors, leading to improved working conditions and likely boosting local economies. With these enhancements, vendors can focus more on serving their customers without the additional stress of environmental challenges.
