During the graduation ceremony at the Vodafone Arena for Fiji National University, a touching moment unfolded as 38-year-old Monisha Mamta Rao was supported by her husband while she accepted her award. Monisha, a mother of three living with a physical disability, achieved her greatest milestone when her name was announced from the podium.
Hailing from Labasa, Ms. Rao spent a year dedicated to her studies and was one of only two individuals to receive the National Training and Productivity Centre Excellence Award for her Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management. “There is nothing about me without me—this quote motivates me to keep moving forward,” she stated, emphasizing her drive.
The support from her family has been integral to her success. “My family members are my biggest supporters. Without their understanding and support, I wouldn’t have made it this far,” she acknowledged. Monisha’s journey reflects both resilience and love, thanks in large part to her husband Ronald, who expressed his pride in her achievements. He shared, “In the seven years of our marriage, I’ve never viewed her in any other way than as my loving and hardworking wife.”
Their partnership has made tackling life’s challenges feel manageable. Ronald added, “We make it work no matter what.” Monisha’s inspiring reflection on her accomplishments delivered a powerful message to others: “Anyone can achieve anything. With willpower and self-respect, you can soar to greater heights.”
This story serves as a reminder that with determination and the support of loved ones, overcoming challenges and achieving dreams is possible, inspiring others to pursue their aspirations against the odds.
