Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that the Terms of Reference (TOR) for a Commission of Inquiry into allegations raised by former FICAC Acting Deputy Commissioner Francis Puleiwai are currently in draft form and will be finalized and published soon. This follows Puleiwai’s assertion that senior government officials, including ministers and deputy prime ministers, have interfered with ongoing investigations.
Rabuka indicated that the inquiry could take the shape of a formal commission or an investigation. He noted that the TOR is being developed, and work is underway to establish the composition of the commission tasked with the investigation. The Prime Minister emphasized that there is legal provision for the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry under the relevant Act.
