The National Fire Authority (NFA) successfully rescued two children from a flooded area in the Naidiridiri Settlement located in Wainibuku. The event occurred early this morning, around 7:54 AM, when the Nakasi team responded to an emergency call. Upon arriving, the officers, led by Station Officer Epeli Roko, discovered that the area was severely submerged, necessitating immediate action.

The NFA personnel carefully assisted the children across the flooded section and safely escorted them to their grandparents, while the children’s parents took the necessary time to secure their home against the ongoing flooding. The NFA emphasized the importance of safety and encourages residents living in flood-prone areas to call 910 for any rescue emergencies, underscoring the value of immediate reporting in preserving lives during such natural disasters.

In light of recent flooding incidents across the country, including substantial flooding affecting towns like Ba, Nadi, and Rakiraki, the community has come together to support one another. The NFA’s commitment during these challenging times has drawn praise from officials and highlights the critical role that first responders play in safeguarding public health and safety.

Continuing efforts in these recovery operations demonstrate a strong community spirit, showing hope as towns rebuild and recover from recent adversities. Such collaborative actions between various authorities and community members are vital and inspire optimism for future preparedness against disasters.
