Fijian sprinter Heleina Young has been honored as the Outstanding Female Athlete at the 2025 Pacific Mini Games, showcasing her exceptional abilities with impressive performances that earned her three gold medals and two silver medals. Her wins came in the women’s 200 meters, 400 meters, and the 4×400 meter relay. In addition to her golds, she also secured silver in both the mixed 4×400 meter and the women’s 4×100 meter relays.

Young’s performances have significantly bolstered Team Fiji’s athletics medal tally at the games, highlighting her crucial role in elevating the team’s status among the Pacific region’s competitors. A former rugby player, she has made a remarkable transition back to athletics after a six-year absence. Young set impressive times, including the second-fastest time for a Fijian woman in the 100 meters at 11.82 seconds, along with a personal best of 24.01 seconds in the 200 meters at this event, moving her to the second fastest all-time in the event for Fijians. In the 400 meters, she now stands fifth all-time with a time of 56.07 seconds.
