The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has reported that ongoing construction works on the bypass road at the Semo slip site have been adversely impacted by continuous rainfall. The heavy rains have necessitated adjustments in the management of traffic and accessibility in the area.
In their latest update, the FRA confirmed that they are maintaining alternative access routes via Naidiri and Ciri Road, which are currently open for light vehicles only. To enhance the usability of the detour, additional maintenance work will be conducted on the alternative route tonight.
Motorists are advised to plan their travel in advance and expect potential delays. Those traveling between key cities such as Suva, Lautoka, Nadi, Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki are encouraged to consider using Kings Road as an alternative route. Naidiri and Ciri Road remain viable options as well.
Drivers are reminded to exercise caution while navigating through the slip site and to stay alert for pedestrians and commuters transferring between vehicles in the vicinity. The overall aim is to ensure safety while maintaining access during these challenging weather conditions.
