Attention, Fiji! The heavy rain drama continues! Yes, you guessed it, that ominous heavy rain alert is still hanging around like an uninvited guest at a family BBQ, and it’s here for the whole Fiji group. If you’re curious about what a Heavy Rain Alert entails (and who wouldn’t be), check out http://www.met.gov.fj/.php?page=warn1#20014.txt.

What’s cooking weather-wise? A super chill trough of low pressure is chilling out just north of Fiji. And just when you think things couldn’t get any cloudier, another trough is making its way in from the west, like the weather equivalent of a double feature! With all this moisture being blown in by the northwesterly winds, prepare for continued showers and a chance for some thunderous applause (aka thunderstorms) until tomorrow.

Let’s break down the forecast for midnight tomorrow:

Vanua Levu and the northern Lau group: Expect occasional rain, heavy enough to make you wonder if someone switched on a giant showerhead, plus a few rolling thunder claps for dramatic effect.

Interior parts of Viti Levu, from Sigatoka through Navua and stretching to Suva up to Tailevu North: Get ready for a real shower showdown! We’re talking about occasional showers that will amp up to rain, hitting us with frequent downpours by the afternoon or evening. Oh, and don’t forget those occasional thunderstorms to spice things up!

Elsewhere: A mix of partly cloudy skies and the occasional shower. Lucky for you, isolated heavy falls with thunderstorms are also developing this afternoon, because why not?

The good news? Rain is expected to ease its grip from the west later tomorrow. But fair warning, localized heavy falls could unleash flash floods in low-lying and flood-prone areas, so make sure your rubber duckies are at the ready!

Winds will be moderate from the northwest and might gust with dramatic flair in those heavy showers. Seas will be moderate too—rough enough to keep the experienced sailors on their toes.

Outlook for Tuesday: More of the wet and wild weather with occasional heavy rain and a few thunderstorms hanging around over Vanua Levu and northern Lau. Kadavu, southern Lau, and Lomaiviti are also in for a shower-filled adventure with isolated thunderstorms. If you’re on the east side of Viti Levu, expect occasional showers and classic afternoon storms too!

For specific regions:

Navua/Suva/Nausori: Umbrellas at the ready! Occasional showers will ramp up to frequent rain and a few surprise thunderstorms.

Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Just a sprinkle of clouds with occasional rain and a possible thunderstorm making a cameo from the afternoon.

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Showers are on the guest list for the afternoon, transforming into frequent rain later with some thunder for the grand finale.

Tavua/Rakiraki: Showers moving up on the scale to frequent rain this evening, bringing a few thunderheads along for the ride.

Yasawa/Mamanuca group: A classic partly cloudy day punctuated by occasional rain and maybe an isolated thunderstorm or two.

Labasa and Savusavu: Expect the rain to keep things interesting, with some heavy fits and a few thunderstorms.

Lau/Lomaiviti: Northern Lau will see occasional rain—bring your raincoat! Lomaiviti will bask in partly cloudy skies with just enough showers to remind you it’s still cloudy season.

Kadavu: Partly cloudy with possible rain showers trying to score some attention.

Rotuma: Rain, rain, and more rain! At least the winds are only mildly gusty, so there’s that!

So gear up, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas and prepare for another round of our favorite day-to-day weather performance. Stay safe and dry, or as dry as you can!
