FIJI Airways has proudly clinched two prestigious awards at the Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards 2024, taking home honors in Destination Marketing and Training and Development categories last Saturday.
Kamal Haer, the executive manager of global sales, expressed the airline’s pride in receiving the Destination Marketing Award, highlighting the importance of their efforts to both promote Fiji Airways and showcase Fiji as a prime travel destination. “This recognition celebrates the hard work of our entire team,” said Ms. Haer, underscoring the need for continuous innovation in marketing amidst growing competition and new markets.
Joeli Qereqeretabua, the manager of service training and standards, noted that winning the Training and Development Award is a significant achievement for the airline, which employs around 2,000 people. He explained that a key component of their strategy focuses on developing their workforce, from technical training for pilots and engineers to service training for cabin crew and customer service staff. Mr. Qereqeretabua emphasized the airline’s commitment to nurturing its human capital, stating, “Focusing on our people’s development is central to our success.”
Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, praised the airline’s managing director and CEO, Andre Viljoen, for his dedication to enhancing connectivity, helping to bring the world closer to Fiji.
