Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals has announced a partnership with the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) to enhance healthcare access for over 10,500 sugarcane farmers at a reduced cost. This initiative aims to provide quality healthcare services to farmers who play a crucial role in Fiji’s economy.
Discussions to establish this collaboration took place between the founder and CEO of PSH Group of Hospitals, Parvish Kumar, SCGF chairperson Ahmed Bhamji, and CEO Raj Sharma. Following their talks, Bhamji and Sharma toured PSH’s Nadi hospital where they expressed admiration for the advanced medical technology and the hospital’s cleanliness.
During the launch of the SCGF Loyalty Programme, Bhamji noted that the Fund has implemented several policy modifications to better cater to the needs of growers, introducing appealing packages designed to benefit sugarcane farmers. He emphasized the collective purchasing power of over 10,500 productive growers, which allows for better healthcare offers.
Sharma added that this partnership will significantly improve the livelihoods of sugarcane farmers. He mentioned that the program aims to extend healthcare services to Labasa and includes outreach efforts focused on wellness and healthcare practices that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Kumar, who comes from a sugarcane farming background, expressed his commitment to supporting the farming community and acknowledged the challenges farmers face in accessing adequate healthcare. He believes that through this loyalty program, farmers will gain access to prompt and affordable medical services at PSH hospitals.
This collaboration not only highlights the importance of supporting the agricultural sector but also promotes a more comprehensive approach to community health, showcasing how partnerships can lead to improved quality of life for farmers and their families in Fiji.
In summary, this partnership between PSH and SCGF is a bright step towards fostering a healthier agricultural community, reflecting an understanding of local needs and a commitment to providing essential services to those who have historically been the backbone of the country’s economy.
