From Struggles to Stardom: Ana Seru Shines as Top Cadet

Ana Seru has made a significant achievement by being named the top female cadet during the John Wesley College passing-out parade held at Albert Park in Suva. Growing up in the challenging socio-economic environment of Raiwaqa, Ana’s journey has been marked by determination and resilience.

The 14-year-old Year Nine student endured a week of rigorous cadet training under humid conditions, which she found to be quite challenging, particularly in mastering the required marching techniques. Despite the obstacles in her upbringing, Ana consistently aimed for excellence in her academic endeavors, believing that education is key to improving her life.

Hailing from Naivucini, Naitasiri, Ana emphasized the importance of making sound decisions, especially when facing peer pressure, a lesson she learned from her family. She dedicated her award to her siblings and father, who were present at the ceremony.

Describing herself as the introvert in her family, Ana expressed her hope that her achievement would motivate her younger siblings to pursue their goals, particularly as they look forward to joining secondary school and participating in cadet training.
