Flying Fijians Gear Up for High-Stakes Clash Against Samoa

The Flying Fijians are focusing on defence and discipline ahead of their opening match in the Pacific Nations Cup against Samoa at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Captain Tevita Ikanivere emphasized the importance of staying focused throughout the game during a press conference.

The 24-year-old hooker remarked, “There is a saying that goes only good enough if we do the work.” He encouraged rugby fans to come and support the revamped Flying Fijians team.

Ikanivere expressed his gratitude for being chosen as captain, stating, “I’m up for the challenge, and I thank God for picking me to do his work on earth.” He anticipates a challenging match against the Samoans.

Despite the team’s youth, Ikanivere noted the presence of many leaders, which he believes simplifies his responsibilities both on and off the field as everyone looks after themselves. After two rigorous training sessions, the Flying Fijians are aiming for a victory in their first PNC match, which is set to kick off at 6 PM.
