Habitat for Humanity Fiji has appointed Elizabeth Peters as its new Project Finance Manager. Peters, who has over ten years of experience in chartered accounting, will play a crucial role in advancing the organization’s mission through her financial expertise.

With a strong background in audit, financial reporting, and donor compliance, Peters has held significant positions, including Grant Finance Specialist with the USAID Pacific American Fund and Manager Tax and Assurance at Ernst & Young Fiji. In these roles, she contributed to financial statement reviews and the development of training programs, alongside innovations in global finance systems.

The organization expressed confidence in Peters’ ability to enhance financial integrity and transparency, particularly in managing financial oversight and compliance for donor-funded projects. Peters is passionate about improving housing for vulnerable communities and aims to strengthen collaboration across the housing sector.

In her role, she will provide comprehensive financial oversight post-award, manage risks, and ensure compliance across various projects. With a degree in accounting and economics from the University of the South Pacific, she is well-equipped to tackle the financial challenges facing the organization.

This appointment not only aligns with Habitat for Humanity’s objectives of providing safe and resilient homes but also highlights an increasing trend of women in leadership roles within the financial and nonprofit sectors in Fiji, similar to recent appointments in other organizations. The commitment to transparency and accountability in the housing sector signifies a hopeful future for improving community living conditions.

Overall, Peters’ leadership is expected to contribute significantly to the advancement of Habitat for Humanity’s mission and the broader initiative to enhance living conditions across Fiji.
