The Radisson Blu Resort in Fiji is set to undergo substantial renovations, with a total budget of $5 million allocated for this year, as confirmed by General Manager Charles Homsy. This follows a significant investment of over $10 million made last year to enhance the resort’s facilities.
Despite typically low bookings during February, Mr. Homsy highlighted that the resort is experiencing a notable recovery in visitor numbers as tourism begins to rebound in the post-COVID era. Last year, the resort managed to maintain high guest occupancy levels while simultaneously upgrading key areas, including two main restaurants and the pool bar, which have all received modern enhancements.
Currently, ongoing renovations in the lobby are scheduled for completion by March, with further upgrades planned for additional outlets such as the Orchid Lounge, Chantara Thai restaurant, and the children’s club, ensuring that most public areas will be revitalized by mid-year. Mr. Homsy stressed the commitment to continuous improvement, signaling plans to renovate the rooms in the years ahead.
This investment in the Radisson Blu Resort is part of a larger trend in Fiji’s tourism sector, where several resorts, notably the Beachcomber Island Resort, are also undergoing substantial renovations to enhance guest experiences and stimulate local economies. The recent $10 million renovation at Beachcomber is expected to create significant job opportunities and attract more visitors, which is vital for the recovery of tourism in the region.
As Fiji’s hospitality industry gradually comes back to life, these renovation projects reflect optimism and resilience among resort owners, demonstrating their dedication to providing high-quality experiences for guests while contributing positively to the local community. The ongoing enhancements at both the Radisson Blu and other resorts signal a promising future for Fiji as a sought-after travel destination.
