Loretta St Julian-Ooms, the General Manager of South Sea Cruises for Fiji and Asia, was honored with the Dixon Seeto Tourism Leader Award at the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards 2024. This distinguished accolade recognizes remarkable individuals who have significantly contributed to Fiji’s tourism sector over many years.

Expressing her pride, Ms. St Julian-Ooms articulated her commitment not only to South Sea Cruises but also to empowering women within the tourism industry. She emphasized that her success is rooted in hard work and dedication, stating, “Give it all you’ve got and always have a positive mindset in whatever you do.” With a background that includes being in the tourism industry since 2008, she is passionate about developing her team and herself.

According to information from South Sea Cruises Group, Ms. St Julian-Ooms began her career with the company in 2017 as Business Development Manager, focusing on the domestic market and trade partners before broadening her scope to include Asia. Her extensive experience also includes a role as Director of Sales at Sheraton and Westin Resorts Fiji, showcasing her deep connections within the hospitality field.

Not only does she hold a Bachelor of Business with dual majors in marketing and management, but she also earned a diploma in travel and tourism from the Auckland University of Technology, highlighting her educational commitment to the field. In addition to her corporate role, Ms. St Julian-Ooms serves as a director of Tourism Fiji, indicating her influential position in shaping the future of the tourism industry.

This recent recognition of her contributions reflects the broader narrative observed with other industry leaders, such as Andrew Turnbull, owner of Tokoriki Island Resort, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the same event. Such accolades underscore the critical role that dedicated individuals play in enhancing the vibrancy and resilience of Fiji’s tourism sector.
