The Fiji Junior Kulas are gearing up for the OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, which begins on Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Head coach Marika Rodu has stated that the team is well-prepared as they enter the final week of their training.
“The preparation is going well, and we’re in our last week of training, focusing on keeping everything calm. The girls are in good shape and ready for our opening match against Tonga,” Rodu shared with Fiji FA Media.
He expects a tough challenge in the first game against Tonga, noting that opening matches are often the most difficult. “We don’t anticipate an easy game against Tonga because the first match is always challenging. Our goal is to calm our nerves and get straight into playing,” he remarked.
Rodu also pointed out Tonga’s defensive strategy, indicating that their tendency to adopt a low block could pose a challenge for Fiji’s attacking play. Nevertheless, he remains hopeful about the Junior Kulas’ prospects, stating, “We will address this and aim to secure three points on Sunday.”
The match is set to kick off at 3 PM.
