Over 1,500 evacuees are currently seeking refuge in 58 evacuation centers across Fiji, according to the National Disaster Management Office. In the Northern Division alone, 1,202 individuals are being housed in 38 centers. The Eastern Division has 294 evacuees distributed across 19 centers, while the Central Division has one center with 22 residents.

The Fiji Meteorological Service has indicated that while rainfall is expected to continue, it should ease by tonight before increasing again on Thursday as a weather system near Vanuatu intensifies and moves southeast. This system was designated as TD 10F on the evening prior.

This situation highlights a proactive response from the Fijian community and authorities to mitigate the impacts of severe weather. The establishment of these evacuation centers aligns with previous efforts in various divisions, where similar measures were taken to protect residents vulnerable to flooding and adverse conditions. During past events, local organizations and government agencies collaborated to deliver essential supplies to those in need.

Fijian authorities have been issuing important emergency contact numbers to facilitate communication during this crisis, ensuring residents can access necessary services. Community cooperation and adherence to safety protocols remain crucial as the situation develops.

Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the strong sense of solidarity among Fijians offers a hopeful outlook. Together, communities are working diligently to navigate these difficult times, demonstrating resilience and unity in the face of adversity.

Communities are reminded to stay vigilant, collaborate, and trust in each other to ensure safety and support as they face these weather-related challenges.
