During their recent visit to Washington, D.C., Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Salaseini Daunibuna, alongside CEO of the Roads Transport Authority, Apisai Ketenilagi, took the opportunity to meet with Ambassador Vuidreketi at the Fiji Embassy. This meeting took place during their attendance at the 22nd Annual Transforming Transportation 2025 Conference, held by the World Bank in collaboration with the World Resources Institute (WRI).
The conference brought together influential global leaders who discussed innovative transportation solutions for developing countries, highlighting the importance of sustainability and achieving development goals. Fiji’s involvement in the conference aims to position the nation within global discussions around transportation strategies that not only promote environmental responsibility but also stimulate economic growth.
Fiji’s engagement in such international forums is crucial, particularly in reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development, as noted in earlier discussions at events like the Small States Forum. During this forum, Fiji’s Minister for Finance and Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad emphasized the significance of regional cooperation in enhancing climate action and adaptation financing. This aligns with Fiji’s broader goals of fostering effective partnerships and collaborations that can drive sustainable development across various sectors, including transportation.
The collective efforts demonstrated in these conferences signify a positive commitment towards advancing Fiji’s infrastructure and transportation sectors, working towards long-term sustainable goals while addressing immediate challenges. This continued focus on international collaboration provides hope for enhanced living standards and a resilient future for Fijians.
