The Telecommunications Authority of Fiji (TAF) has made significant strides with the launch of its inaugural five-year strategic plan, covering the period from 2025 to 2029, at Tanoa Plaza in Suva. The event was officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, who highlighted that the strategic plan is centered around four key pillars: Regulatory Effectiveness, Service Delivery, Advocacy, and Financial Sustainability.

Supporting these pillars are strategic enablers that include People and Governance, Processes, and Technology, aiming to bridge the digital divide, foster innovation, and position Fiji as a leading ICT hub in the Pacific. In his address, Mr. Kamikamica emphasized that this strategic plan signifies TAF’s commitment to bolstering the telecommunications sector in Fiji and promoting a digitally connected environment where every citizen enjoys equal access to technology and opportunities.

He expressed confidence in TAF’s ability to work with stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the strategic plan, which aligns with the government’s vision of a digitally inclusive and empowered Fiji. TAF’s chairman, David Eyre, affirmed the organization’s ambitious trajectory towards a digitally inclusive future. He emphasized the intention to execute the plan and drive transformative change for the people of Fiji and the broader Pacific region, stressing the importance of stakeholder collaboration.

Additionally, TAF’s CEO, Prit Chand, noted that the strategic plan provides a clear and actionable roadmap for revitalizing Fiji’s telecommunications sector. This roadmap ensures that decisions made by TAF are consistent with long-term objectives, allowing for effective resource management, innovation adoption, and the capacity to address emerging challenges.

This strategic initiative represents a hopeful and proactive step for Fiji, as it sets the foundation for a more connected and technologically empowered society. It is an encouraging example of how focused plans can lead to meaningful improvements in infrastructure, service delivery, and overall quality of life for citizens.

In summary, the launch of TAF’s strategic plan marks a pivotal moment for the telecommunications landscape in Fiji, promising an inclusive and innovative approach to connectivity that will benefit all.
