A major nationwide operation is set to launch next month in Fiji, targeting local drug syndicates involved in the production and distribution of harmful drugs. Fiji Police Force Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has confirmed that these individuals have been identified and are currently under surveillance.
The operation aims to dismantle these drug networks and mitigate further harm to the community. “We have identified them and are now focusing efforts on their activities. In March, we expect a significant ramp-up in police operations, and we are determined to shut down these operations,” Commissioner Tudravu stated.
This initiative reflects ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes, which have seen a spike recently. For instance, recent coordinated raids led to several arrests in various regions, including the discovery of over 1,000 marijuana plants and significant quantities of dried marijuana during operations in Kadavu and Nakasi. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, has emphasized the commitment to disrupt drug networks across Fiji and promote community safety.
Tudravu’s commitment to tackling drug issues head-on highlights the importance of law enforcement measures in protecting public safety. The coordinated approach, bolstered by collaboration with regional partners and community involvement, presents a hopeful outlook for enhancing the country’s security and reducing drug-related crime.
Continued vigilance by both police and the community is essential as these operations take shape, fostering stronger partnerships in the fight against illicit drug activities. This united front signifies a proactive approach to ensuring a safer and healthier environment for all residents in Fiji.
