Beyond the headline

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua have moved to widen access after a sellout crowd in Ba, announcing extra ticket availability and cheaper options ahead of their Round 12 Super Rugby Pacific clash with the Highlanders at Four R Stadium on Saturday, May 2.

Drua Head of Sales Josefa Vanuaca said the changes respond directly to fan frustration after the club’s first Ba fixture on March 14 — a historic victory over the ACT Brumbies that nonetheless left “1000s of fans” unable to get inside. “We have heard our fans loud and clear,” Vanuaca said, adding the club wants the Drua Nation to pack Four R again as the team faces an opponent it has yet to beat. “Our fans are the heartbeat of the Drua, so we are making a lot more affordable tickets available for them.”

What is new: the club has increased capacity in selected categories and freed up extra space on the grass embankment, while putting “more robust seating management” in place to ensure ticket holders are guided quickly to their correct seats. Vanuaca said the measures aim to keep the focus “entirely on the world-class rugby and entertainment” while avoiding the chaos that followed the earlier sell-out.

Adult tickets for the East Grass Embankment start at $15, with children’s tickets from $10. Other general admission and zone prices include Red Zone Terraces $20 (Red Zone $25), and Navy Blue Zone Terraces $30 (children’s $10). Premium options range from Bronze Terraces $50 and Grandstand $70, Silver Terraces $50 and Grandstand $100, to Gold Terraces $60 and Grandstand $120. Children’s tickets vary by category, from $10 up to $60. The Drua urged fans to buy early given the previous rapid sell-out.

Tickets are now available through multiple retail points to broaden access: the Drua ticketing website, Jack’s of Fiji outlets, Shop N Save Supermarkets, the Ba Town Council office and Prouds stores. The expansion of sales channels is part of the club’s effort to avoid long queues and to reach supporters across the West.

The Drua’s return to Four R Stadium follows strong home support earlier in the season, and the club is banking on that backing for the May 2 fixture as they attempt to record a first win over the Highlanders. With enhanced capacity and clearer seating management, the Drua say they have sought to make the event more organised and family-friendly while ensuring as many fans as possible can witness the match live. Fans are being encouraged to secure tickets now to avoid missing out a second time.
