Every youth group that participated in the “Qiri kapa” (drum beating) competition was celebrated as a winner at an ARUKA Fiji event held at the Raiwaqa basketball court last Saturday. This initiative, founded by Inoke Drauna, is designed to empower young people by offering them a platform to showcase their talents while simultaneously raising awareness about crucial support services, including child protection and HIV awareness.
Drauna emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “It is just empowering young people to access services, and we thank Save the Children, Reproductive Family Health, and the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection.” These organizations have collaborated with ARUKA Fiji to better inform the community on how to access various support services.
The event highlighted the significance of creative activities like drum beating, which effectively engage youths who are often underrepresented in community gatherings. Such initiatives not only promote arts and culture but also foster a sense of belonging and community involvement among the youth.
For those seeking additional mental health and social support, ARUKA Fiji offers a toll-free helpline at 1528, reinforcing their commitment to the well-being of young individuals in the community.
This event stands as an inspiring testament to the power of community engagement, creativity, and support services in fostering a healthier, more informed generation.
