Weather Alert!
Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, where we just pulled the short straw for forecasting clouds and showers. So, here’s the scoop for the Fiji group!
Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! A low-pressure trough is strutting its stuff over Fiji, bringing along a parade of clouds and moisture that will be gently waltzing its way southeast. So, if you’ve got plans to channel your inner rain dancer, you might just get a chance!
The forecast until midnight tomorrow promises cloudy skies with some showers and the occasional downpour trying to steal the show over Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Tailevu North, Naitasiri-Ra, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, and our lovely Yasawa and Mamanuca island friends. Basically, keep your raincoat handy – they’ll appreciate the companionship!
Elsewhere, things look pretty fine, save for a few afternoon or evening showers taking a friendly stroll. Watch out for isolated thunderstorms in the mix; they might just throw a surprise downpour your way that could turn afternoon strolls into soggy adventures and may lead to flash flooding in those tricky low-lying areas.
The winds will be moderate and north-northeast-ish for now, but come tomorrow, they’ll decide to switch things up and get all easterly on us. The seas? Moderate with a sprinkle of chop, just to keep things interesting.
As for Saturday, picture this: more clouds, some showers, and the same mix of thunder and potential drenching across Navua, Suva, Nausori, and other sunny spots in this paradise. So pack those umbrellas and cross your fingers for a flash of sunlight now and then!
Here’s a quick peek at some local weather highlights:
