Welcome to your weather update, folks! It’s 9:28 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, and we have some exciting meteorological news. The severe thunderstorm warning for heavy rain in the interior and southern parts of Viti Levu and southern Vanua Levu has officially been called off! Whether it’s because the storms decided to take a holiday or just needed some time to cool off, we’ll let you be the judge.
Currently, there’s a low-pressure trough just hanging out to the southwest of Fiji, getting cozy while it slowly drifts westward, and another one hovering over Fiji with clouds and rain, probably wondering why everyone is so stressed about the weather.
Here’s the forecast for the Fiji group until midnight tomorrow: Expect occasional showers with some isolated heavy downpours that might come with a side of thunderstorms! This especially includes the interior and eastern areas where your umbrellas will definitely earn some mileage. Just to name a few: Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Rakiraki, Tavua, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua, Taveuni, Lomaiviti, Lau, Kadavu, Yasawa, and the Mamanuca group. For the rest of us, it’s more of a partly cloudy vibe, but keep your eyes peeled for afternoon or evening showers and those delightful thunderstorms that might bring along heavy falls.
Watch out for localised heavy rain, as it might just decide to turn a friendly neighborhood road into a mini-river. And don’t forget moderate northeast winds, which could rustle your hair a bit, so make sure you’ve got your stylish “Windblown Look” ready.
Looking ahead to Friday: Expect cloudy periods with some showers that might just be a little overzealous, plus isolated heavy falls in the interior and northeastern parts of the larger islands.
