Fiji Weather Update: Heavy Rain Alert Cancelled as Trough Moves East; Cloudy Periods and Showers Across the Fiji Group

The heavy rain alert previously in force for the Fiji group is now cancelled. If you were considering building an ark, you’re free to postpone that plan for another day.

Situation: A trough of low pressure lies over Fiji and is gradually moving eastwards. Active rain bands lie just to the east of the group and are expected to continue moving away from Fiji.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:
Cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms over most places.
Moderate northerly winds, gradually turning southwest from the West by midday.
Moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Friday:
Cloudy periods with few showers over Sigatoka-Korolevu, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
Mainly fine elsewhere.
Cool at night.
